Formulations derived from xeno-free, defined components are the first family of xeno-free cell culture media to support the growth of hESCs and iPSCs. NutriStem® hPSC XF medium has been shown to support long-term (>50 passages) culture of undifferentiated hESC (i.e. H9.2, I6, I3.2, H1) as well as iPSC, while preserving normal karyotypes. Pluripotency was verified by testing the expression of multiple markers by Q-PCR, immunofluorescent staining, and FACS analysis, and by formation of embryoid bodies and teratomas.
